Has anyone been successful in removing unwanted folders? I'm referring
to folders like:
C:\Program Files\...
Internet Explorer (yah yah i know...)

I don't have admin priveleges on this computer and wanted to find out
if it was possible to deactivate the active desktop?

I have just reinstalled XP Pro but can't change input language. I'm running
US XP and would like to change that into Swedish so I can use our letters
with dots and rings.
I've run all the updates as well as the "Multilanguage User Interface" CD

The show desktop icon is missing from the quick launch area of my taskbar.
How can I create a new shorcut that will show the desktop not just take me to
a folder with the contents of the desktop.

Can someone tell me how to install an icon on the system properties dialog window? I have installed a new copy of MS Windows XP Home onto an eMachine computer and want to have the eMachine logo on the system properties like it did before I rebuilt this machine.

save/open dialog box in XP?  The dialog box always displays the
columns in the following order (in the details view): File Name, Size,
Type, Date Modified.  I would like to change it to:  File Name, Size,

I have an question re. application paths:  how does the command-line
interpreter locate certain executables?
E.g.: I can enter "java -jar <someJarFile>" on the cmd-line and that
happily executes "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_07\bin\java.exe". But

i bought this laptop toshiba one with windows XP installed
it has this option of two languages English and Russian
now the problem is that i wanna change the language that appears in

when i open a new window.. or really any window it is open as the top window
for 2/3 seconds and then is hidden by another previous window.
the problem for me is that the windows don't remain open.  I open them cuz i
need to do something in them..but they keep hiding.
