my hard drive is on the verge of failing and i have some
information i need to back up but i cant get the cd-rom
to burn a cd.  the files are quite big, so floppy is not

After I insert the lexar 512 mb card in the compact flash slot of my
thinkpad, windows recognizes the new hardware as PCMCIA ATA/ATAPI drive
but doesn't create any drive letter for it. The same card works in the
digital camera without any problems (not a problem with the card).

I am using Windows XP Home edition.  I had a boot up
problem and so I went to "Go back" to choose an earlier

I have a dive computer which uses parallel cable or serial to download info to computer.  XP does not support the parallel connection, so for XP, must use serial.  Just purchased a IBM laptop that has NO serial port.
