Can anyone shed any light on why WinXP Pro SP1 would report a IBM Thinkpad
A21m (700 MHz PIII) as 547 MHz? Prior to that, it showed it as 145 MHz! Is
this some kind of Windows error, or am I being shorted CPU power?

I have an Acer 340P scanner. I have downloaded the zip program from Benq. I
have followed instructions to the letter many times. Control Panel says
scanner working, XP does not find it. It is daisy chained with and HP
parallel printer.

DMA of my hard disk is disabled i.e. it's in PIO mode.
It used to be DMA now even if i select DMA if available it stays in PIO mode.

All of my drives (cd RW, DVD, disc drive) cannot recognize any media any more. Whenever I put something in, the computer asks me to format the media. Tryed updating xp, run virus check without any sign of solution. Please help!!

I've got MB Intel D865PERL, CPU P4 2.8GHz and 120 GB Seagate HDD. After new
