Occasionally svchost.exe maxes out my cpu to 99-100% and i need to reboot my PC to get rid of this as all my other applications come to a grainding halt. Anyone got any ideas to why this is happening and how to rectify it?

I am running an Asus p4pDeluxe with WIn XP Pro.wuth a P4 2.4 gb 8oo mhz bus I have two ATA Had Drives installed. The Primary one is a Western Digital 160 GB. The operating system is only recognizing 120 GB. How do I make the otgher 40 GB avaiklable?
