Got a laptop running XP Home with no serial ports. Got a Belkin serial port
adapter which installs itself as Com 7!!  I also have some software that
will only talk to Coms 1 to 4. Can I change the Belkin Com port to be Com 1,
or 2.

My computer will not run an application from cd/dvd nor
will it run anything that uses the cd/dvd drive. It will
begin to start the executeable as normal but then the
