Each time I boot up I get a window which says that XP has recognized a new
printer (not so!) and initiates a wizard to complete installation.
How do I get rid of this annoyance?

    I'm running Windows XP Professional w/ SP2 and all
the latest security and driver updates on an ASUS P5AD2
Premium motherboard, 3.6GB processor, with 2GB of DDR2
unbuffered memory.

when i used windows 2000, my speakers worked perfectly. But after installing
xp, "creative audio PCI" was set as default speakers. How can i get my old
speakers re-installed?

 Can anybody please help me with an error which has started to occur quiet

I have just bought a microphone and plugged it into the microphone port at
the back of my computer. But my computer doesn't recognise that it's there.

I have an Optical Desktop Pro, and when I have the Intellitype software
installed, I have an issue in every 3D game (I most noticed this in
shooters, but have confirmed it in a 3D engine RTS) and only 3D games
(does not occur is a 2d sidescroller I tested in, nor does it occur in

A new hard drive, Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 160GB, is being detected by
my bios (motherboard Elitegroup K7S5A, but only with appr. 32GB. Same
thing in windows drive administration - only 32GB.
Is it absoluttely necessary that the bios detects it properly or can I

I have just installed a new BIOS upgrade (Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG) by
eSupport.com people. The Western Digital support ( the makers of my 120 GB
hard disk -WD-WMAEL1188961) assured me that

I've installed a new hard drive and set up the old one as a slave.
Everything works fine...but one annoying thing keeps happening.  In
power options I have the system set to turn off a hard drive after 30
minutes of inactivity.  The slave drive (I can tell it's the slave

I'm looking for a refresher on this. So instead of saying what I think it
does and how it should be set I will just ask: BIOS setting is usually
something like 'Plug n Play OS' with options of 'yes/no'.
