I just removed an old SCSI CD burner, and installed a new
IDE DVD burner.  Rebooted, and the drive was identified,
and seemed to be working ok.  Then I noticed that I have
extra drives showing up in windows.  

i am trying to determine if my two usb ports are 2.0 and can't find the
information anywhere.  i have a Toshiba Satellite A15 TOSHIBA Version 1.20

I am experiencing windows XP freezing when inserting any
CD rom, though it is hit and miss.
The Application logs show the following numerous errors :-
The device, \Device\Harddisk2\D, is not ready for access

I am running XP professional fully up to date
Sometimes when I insert a CD or DVD the sytem  freezes
I therefore cant see anything in the event veiwer to tell me what is
happening.
