For some reason I am unable to boot to the BIOS or interact with my PC until
the GUI kicks in.  I cannot choose between profiles, I cannot "Press any key
to boot from CD", etc.  Dell says a usb keyboard cannot be used in this way.

ive only had my notebook for a couple of weeks, but ever since i got it, it
has been really picky about recognizing cds.  when i insert a cd to play or
rip it often says no disc in drive.  I know it's not a security or copyright

I have WinXP SP2 and I tried to install a Maxtor One
Touch USB drive.  I install the software, reboot, install
the backup software, remove the install cd, and then plug
in the drive to USB.  It says "found hardware: Maxtor One

Report back from new RAM install; took system from 1GB of PC3200 DDR

Using Page File Monitor (thanks Ron Martell for that link - great
program) I now have peak page file usage of 5 MB vs. 97 MB after playing

The CD rom (Atapi-CD 50max) will not read any cds suddenly.
Windows XP detects the opening and closing but asks for the disk to be put
in. I've tried all types of disks, audio and data,  but nuffink.
The pc is Elonex.
When I put disk in cd-drive and try to open it says "insert disk"02 Jan 2005 18:41 GMT4
