I've had my DELL Dimension 8300 (Windows XP sp2) for about a year now and
have not had problems with this until about 2 weeks ago.  This drive will not
recognize that there is a disk in it.  (whether it's music or game CDs or
DVDs)

My DVD drive will mostly read/play the DVD's I play. But sometimes it won't
start reading it, you can hear it skipping and spinning up.
Is it the software or can it be a physical damage?

I've cloned my Samsung 160 gig disk with XP onto a Samsung 80 gig drive
using CloneMax. The problem is that XP seems to think it's the same size as

I did a clean and fresh install of windows xp pro but the problem
remains. In the sounds and audio devices "No Audio Device" is displayed
and nothing seems to rectify it. I tried many things but couldn't make

I have lost both my cdr and cdrw that was listed in device manager. They
where working Aopen burner, lg drive, I installed a modem (motorola pci56).
XP pro doesnot recognize it as modem, so I removed it, now i have no cd

I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software problem.  I usually leave my
PC on all the time.  Last night it shut down by itself and there were no fuse
or breaker issues.

A friend sent me a CD created on his computer and my CD drive doesn't
recognize any files on it. Using isobuster, I was able to make copies of all
