Is there any way for Windows to signal external devices (think of a relay-connected power strip or UPS), that it is going into hibernate mode or resuming so that external devices like printers and monitors can be synchronized to also turn off when not in use and then back on? ...

I have XP Pro on an Asus P34B533-E with 1.8CPU and 512 RAM with a 300w power supply. 4 Gard Drives not couting this one, a CDRW abd floppy. I have just bought a Laser brand external case for USN2,1 and Firewire.

I just dug out some floppies and inserted them one by one in my floppy drive and guess what? I see the files found on the first disk inserted one each additional disk. Even see them after I remove the floppy from the drive. Is this thing caching them or what? Anybody know how ...
