My computer no longer recognizes my cd drive or even brand new dvd drive. It says it has sucessfully loaded the device driver but cannot find the hardware device, code 41. I have tried the troubleshooter, updating the driver, checking the conections, uninstalling / reinstalling ...

My DVD drive will not erase discs. It ocassionally begins the process through the wizard, but it always stops a few seconds into it. It also comes up as a CD-RW process. The discs are in good shape with minimal scratches. It seems to read and write fine. Any help is appreciated.
