And consequently I can't get most apps to burn to them -- only Nero and
Media player see the dvd burners. Windows explorer only seens generic
local disk. I'm sure there's a registry fix somewhere....

I have just recently switched over from Windows 2000 to Windows Xp and now
my system is telling me that it is missing files. Can you please help I have

I had to reinstall Win 98 on an Aptiva comp. and then updated with
Win XP. The computer has two hard disks but now I cannot see drive D.
I've tried several times changing some settings in the IDE drives
setup to no avail.

When I connect a USB stick in any of the 4 ports, the system recognizes the
new hardware. I don't get any error messages but windows doesn't assign any
drive letter to it. So I can't use the USB stick.

I just put a new Hard drive into a computer that I got for free, got XP
installed and activated, but each time I start, there is the first boot
screen that lists the processor, ram etc and it ends wtih press F1 to
continue on the bottom.

I used Win Xps defrag utility and then Norton Speed Disk right after it.
Both took ages and then when I checked back on the XP defragger it told
me that I should "defrag this volume" Are they working against each
other? Should I use only one of them and if so which one?
