My computer is incerdibly slow, and the culprit seems to be excessive
HD use. Every action leads to seconds or MINUTES of drive-grinding that
keeps the system floundering and faltering.

I bought a new machine with one hard drive (C:\), a dvd (D:\) and a cd-rom
(E:\).
Split the hard drive into two partitions. Expected the drives to now be HDD
(C:\ and D:\) with the dvd and cd being drive e and f respectively.

I run the disk error checker allow it to run at start up and I'm getting an
error message something like: Cant open volume, disk check stopping. I was
previously able to run the disk checker at start up with no problems.
Any ideas suggestions?

Ive just put a new 20gb hard (was 5gb) drive in a HP omnibook XE 2.. trying
now to install Xp but cd wont boot and all i get on screen is a A prompt...

I recently switched my broadband connection from ethernet to USB. Everything
works great except I have the subject icon in my tray which points to
removing my cable modem. Obviously I don't want to remove the modem, but how
