I am using Windows XP SP2, latest security patches, with an internal
Conceptronic "SoftK56 Data Fax Voice Speakerphone CARP" modem.
My problem is that the modem only sounds during dialup if the user is a
member of the "Administrators" group, but not if it is only a member of the

Anybody had the same issue? I'm inserting an MMC card into the SD slot
(theoretically should work as per numerous Internet FAQ) on my ThinkPad X40
equippedd with XP SP2 and nothing happens. SD cards are being recognized
normally, no problem at all.

I have just installed a new SATA harddisk as a single Raid 0 and have also installed the previous IDE harddisk as a slave on the primary IDE.
When I boot-up Windows XP both harddisks are detected but only the SATA appears in Windows Explorer.

I have come onto this group for a friend whose computer has crashed.
He left it on to go shopping and when he came back, the screen had frozen.
He could do nothing except reboot it using the power button but on
rebooting, there was a 'no signal' message on a black screen.

I just bought a new MS Multimedia Natural Keyboard but can't seem to
get it to work w/ my 2-port KVM switch.  It uses the double-tap Scroll
Lock + Up/Down Arrow (1 or 2) to switch between ports.  For some
reason, the switch isn't recognizing the scroll-lock or the keyboard

On my WinXP PC I have a Microsoft USB Internet KB. I've suddenly lost
the use of the special keys, like 'Calculator', 'My Computer', etc. I
tried uninstalling it from Device Manager>Keyboards, but after reboot
and automatic reinstall that has made no difference.

I need to copy (professionally) memory cards. (Sony duo cards)
So I need to connect at least 5 usb card readers.
As I bought the same readers, most of the time when I connect them I will
get a blue screen after connecting the third or fourth reader and windows
