I'm trying to set up a wireless AP for a friend. A D-link AP, connected
to a Actiontec DSL modem. The Actiontec says it's using PPPoA. The AP
has no such option, so I used Static IP settings, using the same
addresses set up on the Modem, gateway, DNS, etc. I've turned off the

I'm having a problem with my Gigabyte DVD-RW Drive.
It worked fine before, but now it can read and write only DVD Disks.
Any solution for this?

I had to replace my motherboard due to a failure.  Getting Win XP Pro
back to install has been a real pain.  I have it now where I can boot
into windows.  The 2 things that are not being recognized are my CD Rom
and DVD Rom.  They have a yellow ? next to them in device manager.  ...

For a while now my pc has randomly rebooted, at any time - in the bios,
in Windows, immediately at power on or after time has passed. I've
changed every part of the PC (mem, hdisk, power supply, etc), other

my cd rw drive has a problem - the drawer stays open,if you push it in it
opens by itself and it also will not read data. I have noticed the front
light is yellow, should it be green ? any help appreciated

when i boot up my computer and i see my windows desktop for the first time,
there are no desktop icons or a start menu/bar at the bottom ofmy page.  the
only window that comes up is MY COMPUTER.  i am not able o right click on my

I currently have a 60 gb partition, G, that is cleanly formatted. It is a
partition that resides on my second physical hard drive.
I plan on putting XP Pro64 on it, and dual booting with my current 32 bit XP

I have an external HDD USB 2.0 drive.  It is recognized by the OS (XP SP2),
but it "flickers" in-and-out.  While I watch it in Explorer, every minute or
so it dissapears yet to come back in a second!  It seems almost like the

I recently dropped my laptop from about chair/seat height. It hit the floor
on it's side. Worried I quickly did scandisk and left it. When I came back
it had already booted into WindowsXP and I forgot about the issue.
Q. How does one look back at previous or recent scandisk logs?
