I have a problem with my ATI card display drivers killing my computer. I
have downloaded all updates but whenever the computer crashes I get a
message upon reboot telling me to update my drivers from the ATI website.

We had a Windows file get corrupted and are attempting to repair
it with our XP Pro OS disk, but for some reason it gets 'stuck' while
in the "Searching for previous versions of Windows" mode...
It just SITS in that mode for more than an hour, and we can even

Is it possible, like it was in DOS-environment?
If so, how?
In these modern times new desktops come without diskette-drives.
We use usb-sticks now.

HD free space wrong after deleting large files29 Sep 2005 14:22 GMT2
I have an WD 80G HD which showed used and free space accurately. I just
deleted 2 files about 15 gigs each, but it still reports the same free space
as before I deleted the files.  This happend also on  a partition and I had
to reformat that to restore proper free space.

I got a message from MS saying that I had problems with my HD. Used
properties/tools and had it do a through chkdsk on reboot. Went to bed
as this takes quite some time. Got up and Windows is running but I
have no Idea if any bad spot were found, where is this VERY important

A friend of mine moved his computer from one room to another. Before it

Ok... Just to clarify:-
I have a HP F1711N laptop, second hand, that came with ME preloaded.
I have no cd rom drive for it, I have no disks for it.
It has NO internal Modem, the only one I have is USB!

I just purchased a Compaq Presario AMD Athlon 3500+, 512mb, 200GB, and I
cannot get my NEC 19" monitor to work.  The Compaq logo appears but Windows
does not come up. A smaller monitor came with the PC and I am currently
using it. Someone suggested the resolution on the NEC needs ...
