USB Thumb Drive Gets Assigned Drive Letter A:02 Sep 2005 14:39 GMT1
I have a usb thumb drive that was working fine and now all of sudden no
matter what computer I plug it into it gets assigned drive letter A:
and I can't access it.  Any thoughts or suggestions as to why this is
happening?

I recently bought a big HD to satisfy my storage needs, and I installed it
very happily, but Windows XP (sp2) lost my DVD-RW in the process!
Here is my configuration as given by the BIOS:

How about microsoft practicing what it preaches by releasing x64 drivers and
interfacing utilities for its keyboard and mouse line of products.
Im not talking about the generic drivers that ship with windows but x64
versions

I called the Pioneer people and they say if it reads, the drive is fine (it's
new) and there's something in the operating system preventing it from
writing.  I have Win XP SP2 and Windows Media Center 10.  I've tried writing
music files from Windows Media Center and picture files ...

Hi, what a mess! long story short, I  Raid 0'd two new Maxtor 120GB
drives. About  a week later whilst doing some video work a BSD appeared
and no amount of effort brough the system back to life.  So i re
formated in the raid bios and made two JBODS instead...for safety!!!!!!

I have a via usb 2.0 pci card I added to my PC running windows XP pro with
SP2.  The controller shows up in device manager as "Enhanced" but when I plug
in my iPod it says that it is a low speed port and that I should use one of
the available high speed ports.  If I reboot my PC ...

hi im having a problem booting up windows xp on my new hard drive, it wont up
boot up without a windows 98 cd rom, if i use the windows xp cd rom then it
will start loading up the setup, someone said its because my cd rom boots up
first and then my hard drive, if this is the case ...

I had to reinstall Windows XP the other day.  And lost a lot of stuff, had to
reinstall, etc.  Dell had to walk me through a trouble shooter getting my
drivers working for my monitor and modem.  Got that working.

I have a Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 (Model # 1007).  It is
about a year old and has been working great.  Recently, the mouse batteries
got low, so I changed them.  Within a few days of changing the batteries,
any windows with more than one screen scroll around ...

I can't enter text because at least five keys will not operate normally.
they open windows for various windows services when struck. The start menu
pops up all by itself without striking any key at all.

I am concerned about what is causing problems using external hard drives on
my system.
Some of the basics: Windows XP SP2, Compaq X09, Maxtor ATA Hard Drives in
AcomData External Drive Enclosures, Connected to PC with FireWire or USB 2.0.
