I have a HP Pavilion dv4000 running XP Home. It came with a remote control for watching DVD's etc.... I don't see a catagory called Inferred Devices in the device manager. I'm stumped on how to get the remote to operate. Any help????

I was wondering how to disable my touchpad. I go into the control panel and do all that stuff and go to disable and apply.... and it doesn't work. The mouse keeps working when its disabled. What can I do to fix this problem?

I have an external maxtor firewire disc connected to my PC and at startup of the system it takes longer and longer until the drive gets ready, i.e. the red led dissapears and the drive icon appears on my system. The disc contains roughly 55 GB of data, manly dvd single

Setting up a new pc, MSI MB, AMD cpu, raid 1, Win XP Pro. When I shut down windows, everything goes normally, then the screen goes black and a no video signal appears on the screen, but the pc doesn't shut off. ?

Can I backup my entire C: drive to a series of CD-R's? (700MB each CD-R, and I have about 12gig to backup). I tried using Windows Backup Wizard (Advanced Mode) and checked off both the C:drive and System State and an error came up and said:

I have a new off-the-shelf system with a LiteOn light scribe cd/dvd burner. (SOHW 1633S) In all respects it seems to burn OK and it is recognized by that name in BIOS and in the device manager.

Hello all, I have a fairly new Media Center XP HP machine (bought in in august) and just last week the CD/DVD burner stopped working. It's a two optical-drive machine, and the DVD player still works. Surprisingly, the DVD burner which stopped working can still read data!

I have some tapes and have connected the tape output to the soundboard input. When I play the tape I can very nicely hear everything via the separate computer speakers as I turn on the tapeplayback.
