In a LAN, can I remotely shudown a XP pro PC from another XP Pro PC .
Is this possible without any third party tools.

I have this weird sound that is in the background all the time as long as the
volume is turned up. I tried to do mute all but the sound is still there. I
can't listen to music without the buuuueeeeeiiiiiiiip noise there!

I have a multipartitioned system with XP Pro, RedHat Linux and OS2
Ecomstation along with an exchange data partition.
Running out of space for the XP partition and don't use the RedHat or OS2
partitions anyhow.

Just out of interest:
When I'm backing up my computer to DVDs, my DVD drive takes a while to burn the disk, like several minutes. Doesn't this build up lots of heat inside my computer, which might be harmful? I don't want a disc-o inferno on my hands.

I am unable to disable my touchpad on my laptop...obviously.  I read in the
owner's manual to go into "printers and other hardware" then "mouse" and then
to choose the "touch pad" tab and adjust the settings there.  But, when I go

I'm using a Natural multimedia keyboard via PS/2->USB adapter on Windows XP

There is an icon for my  old camera in “My Computer” under the other drives
which I no longer need. I can not delete it or remove it. I don’t see it in
the control panel -Add/Remove programs. Is there a way to remove this icon?

I have planned to purchase an Intel-954G-based motherboard, which can
support a 1 Ghz P4 and up to 667 Mhz DDR2. Since Intel boards are more
costly, I wish to ask a question: How important or beneficial is it to
buy a motherboard manufactured by Intel vis-a-vis one having the same
