I installed a new motherboard and processor in a 15 month old e-Machine. When
I started it up after installing the new hardware, Windows notified me I had
to re-activate Windows XP. When I tried to re-activate, Microsoft would not
accept the last two numbers in the activation set ...

Is there a registry key that can get rid of the safely remove hardware icon?
i know how to hide it, but i wanna remove the icon all together...

Have just purchased a new Dell PC with XP Home pre installed, however, the
microphone is not working.  Is there something I can do to test the mike to
make sure it is OK or is there some other way of double checking software?

I'd like to switch between two different input device (mouse/keybaord)
setups in Windows XP -  without rebooting, if possible.
Setup #1: Wired PS/2 mouse & keyboard -> dual-PS/2-to-USB adapter
Setup #2: Logitech Bluetooth mouse/kybd combo -> Logitech Bluetooth USB

why are the new intel m7x0 cpus rateD at much lower clock speeds than the
older models ? (i have mobile intel pentium 4 2.8ghz on my toshiba satellite
a40 -- that machine's a year old) ?
is it worth it to wait for the dual core cpu laptops ?

Using XP pro, clean install, and everytime I start or reboot my machine, I
get a code 10 - Cannot start service error message on the keyboard, which is
a microsoft internet one, each and everytime.
I have to manually uninstall it, and then refresh the hardware device

are dual-core laptops available now?  if so, is it ok to jump in, or should
wait?  what are possibilities?

I have a Dell 8300 running WindowsXP with a TEAC DV-W58E drive. I have tried
using a number of programs to do backups which require more than 1 DVD. With
all of these programs the first disc writes OK. When prompted for a 2nd disc
I put the DVD in but the programs never start ...

Just tried to set up my new computer in a RAID 1 configuration to take
advantage of my two new WD Raptor 74 GB S-ATA drives.
Used the mobo utility (CTRL+I) during BIOS to access the Intel RAID
controller and set them up as one new volume and it looked great there;

please who can help me out with proper installation of this webcam on xp? it
works well on first installation, but switching on the pc on second attempt,
i can not find. msg. displayed : "error080040275 can not add ....".  company

For I could not find an win xp-driver for terratec sondsystem base1, I
installed one avalable for win nt. Of course I was informed, that it would
not have passed the compatibility-test of XP-pro, but I thought, I might try

I need to reinstall my Intellimouse, the one with the 2 extra buttons on
the sides (for a total of 5). I can't find the CD that came with it. Is
there a way to get another, or to get the software that would enable me to
program the buttons? Would this be downloadable from the MS ...

the start of the hp scan utility "PrecisionScan LTX" takes about 3 min.
to start while the CPU works with 100%. What's wrong?
The Windows scan wizzard works fine.

the only thing i can do is I can view a CD and a DVD(non-recorded ones like

I'm looking for a piece of software that will simulate a serial mouse,
sending commands appropriate to the movements of a ps2 / usb / ...
mouse connected to the system.  Does such a thing exist?
