I've physically installed a hard drive. I know the physical part of the
installation succeeded because it shows up on Properties. I just can't
access it. It doesn't show up on "this computer" and it has no
designation. A diognostic tool I tried said "unit unidentified".

I have a newly built machine and am having difficulty getting XP Pro
(SP 1a) up and running and hope y'all can shed some light.

WIN XP Pro (WXPp) doesn't see my on-board circuits (audio, modem, LAN, etc.).
Is this WXPp rejecting them because they don't meet WIN hardware specs, or
it is something to do with Dell?

Can someone tell me why I can't uninstall these drives. When I go to Device
Manager and try to uninstall Everything freezes or the uninstall fails. Any

i have an emprex 1108 ui external dvd writer, when i go to my computer it
does not recognise it as dvdr drive instead it says cd rom. i looked in the
event viewer and it showed me this message.

My friend just installed a stick of ram into my xp home system.  The
computer recognized the ram, but I have not noticed an increase of speed
generally.  Is it possible for the new stick to be damaged (for example,
from static) even if the computer recognizes the ram?

I've checked with Seagate and Microsoft to no avail...

Whenever I put my computer on standby mode, then wake it up again, the sound
no longer works. It will not play any type of sound, including system sounds
