Ok, I've tried absolutely everything to install a USB printer. Now I can't
install any USB device.
When I plug in a USB device, the Found New Hardware dialog comes up, it does
its thing for a minute, and then fails with the error "the data is invalid".

After running PC-Doctor the log file shows that my hard drive had a crc
error in 3 blocks. My question is if there is anything that WinXP can do

I searched te ng's for comments about this, but found only people looking
for benchmark software.  I realize everyone's system is diferent, but I just
wanted to get a general idea as to whether my system is performing nominally
or not.

The Realtek rtl8185 card tests fine in another computer, I have changed
all pnp settings to legacy, removed all other cards for bare bones
start, swapped video card, there are no conflicts listed in
Diagnostics, tried the card in all 3 slots, but ps2 keyboard and mouse
