After working normally for a few months...my PC won't recognize the
existence of either of my two optical drives. The BIOS detects both drives
just fine...but the OS does not see them...I dont even get a red icon under
device manager to give me the option of uninstalling the ...

I have a four year old PC (Athlon 1500 processor) running windows XP Home.
Since buying this PCI have added a PCI card with four more USB ports and a
second hard drive.  Up to this point no problem.
Many months later, I threw out my old 64 mb MX400 graphics card and replaced

I have a 2.5" drive in a USB 2.0 enclosure that I can not get recognized on
the machine it worked on for about a week and then for now reason (except
probably a Windows Update that automatically ran!) is unrecognized by the

Windows won't recognize the DVD RW drive on my computer when I insert a blank
DVD.  It does recognize blank CD's though.  I can, however, write to the DVD
drive using a 3rd party DVD/CD burning program and Windows will then

The trackball on my MS Trackball Explorer has all of a sudden become really
sticky. Is there any way to get it to flow more smoothly, as before? Or, is

I'm using two dvd burners in my XP Pro computer, burning with NERO.  
Recently, my drives have stopped acknowledging blank DVD-R's - I try to burn,
it ejects the drive, telling me it needs a +/- R or +/-RW;  I put the disc in

Hardware is all OEM., WinXP Homeon 80G hard drive, 210 W power supply, only
add-in card is a Linksys Wireless-G PCI card. It was running with a 2GHz

 I have installed XP on an ATA drive and am looking to install XP 64 on a
SATA drive. The problem is that it boots correctly from the XP 64 CD setup,
copies all the files, reboots, but it fails to continue the setup.
  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have this problem while trying to remove my flash drive using the "Safely
Remove Hardware" button. After clicking it, the "Safe to remove hardware"
message was displayed and then the computer restarts suddenly.
During boot up, the system asks to scan the drives.
