Dual Monitor to Single Monitor and back01 May 2006 19:55 GMT2
I usually run dual monitors on my laptop when at my desk, and sometimes
when I am back to a single monitor some programs will still try and run
in the other dual monitor.  Even though the dual monitor option is
turned off. The only way I have been able to get them back it to

We have a number of Gateway Solo5350 laptops - 1.06ghz that shipped with 128
of RAM (old - yes). We upped the RAM a couple of years ago to 256 -
everything was fine.  Now trying to go to 512 and laptop won't load.   This
laptop is rated to accept up to 1g RAM - 133MHz SDRAM.
Is there no solution?  2 SDRAM DIMM sticks and Windows XP01 May 2006 17:40 GMT8
After extensive searching, and finding surprisingly little information
on my problem, let alone a solution, a post to this group seemed
appropriate.  I have 2 SDRAM DIMM 256 MB sticks.  One is a PC100, the
other a PC100/PC133.  By themselves, they both run fine on my older
Disc Consistency Checks at startup01 May 2006 16:59 GMT3
When starting up the PC, windows goes through a disc consistency check, this
occurs about once a week at random times, I have cleaned up the disc,
installed a new power supply and it still persists.  No problems are found
its just that it takes about an hour and if I skip it it ...

Does anyone know the difference between the tools sigverif and verifier in
Windows XP. Do they both identify unsigned drivers or is there more to it
than that?
Thanks

300GB HDD - Serious Errors01 May 2006 13:11 GMT3
After installing XP, my 300GB SATA hard drive wont read above 127GB. I found
out that the XP Service Packs 1 & 2 must be installed, then you have to
extend the partition to read the full drive's size.
I did this, which worked, but now my PC constantly resets for no apparent

HDD size limit01 May 2006 06:24 GMT2
My boot disc is a 200 GB western Digital cavair SE 7200 (C drive) and the
same but 160 GB (F) as a simple file storage system.
My BIOS is somewhat old but still decent (gigabyte 8I-TXE) and supports 48
bit LBA. But when I tried to format "F" it was capped at 70 GB.
Mouse Wheel Button01 May 2006 03:42 GMT6
I have a generic optical wheel mouse (mostly because I'm tired of $40 mice
going bad).  I don't use the 'autoscroll' function of the wheel button much,
so I'm wondering if there is a way to reassign it to do something else, say
minimizing and maximizing windows or 'double-click'.
