I am having trouble getting a 56k modem to work.  I have formatted hard
drive and loaded fresh win xp sp2.  Modem has been recognized and working
properly in device manager.  Clicking the Query Modem button in the
diagnostic tab in the Control Panel modem applet also works fine.  ...

I have an AMD Athlon 64 dual core 4200 running in an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
motherboard using XP Pro SP2. The BIOS recognises it as such but:-
- Windows task manager shows only 1 core
- AMD Power manager shows only 1 core and tells me that support is not

I've been familiar with the 'create a partition' and format of
harddrives for years.  I recently put an additional harddrive in my
Windows XP system and before I could partition and format it it
required me to 'initialize' the harddrive.

After I reboot, Windows will read a CD or DVD in my combo drive.  If I remove
the Disc and put in a different one, it will not read it until i reboot again
or log out and back in completely (will not work if I just switch users).

Suddenly one of my 2x250 Gb HD was lost - and I can't find it!
