Junior's going to college in August. The dorm rooms are setup with
network cables for Internet and school network access. Would like to put
a router between Junior's laptop and desktop and the school network. The
school IT guys tell me they frown on routers as they can shut down ...

My hard disk is drive C and my CD/DVD drive is drive D.
I want to split my hard disk and would prefer it to be drives C and D with the CD/DVD drive becoming drive E.
Is there a way of assigning/changing the drive letter of the CD/DVD drive?

I purchased a 1 gig USB 2.0 flash drive. "Properties" says it has about 1
gig of memory.
However, I can only write about 500 Megs to the drive before I get a "The
directory or file cannot be created" message and the disk will not write

my desktop has a problem. The PC is telling me that there is a failure to
boot. There is also a very strange repetitive sound. Then the PC asks me to
insert the disk system.
I can see the PC reading files from the disk, then nothing. I have a message

I have a 250 Gb Hdd in this system.  The Bios reports correctly and appears
not errors.
Windows XP only report 130Gb of hard disk  This was the amount of free space
that the frice had before this problem happened.  Tryed reinstalling the OS.  

my pc has a big a.s issue. it has no options for standby or hybernation.
recently i has to image it because of a huge issue in xp that could not be
fixed otherwise. now i can't use the standby and hybernation options and i

Whenever I push the button to make the CD drive open the light under the
drive blinks but it doesn't open. In the device manager it says it's working
properly.

How do I back up the entire computer. I'm installing a new hard drive.

I am trying to use dial up to do my billing and I keep getting an error
message, so then I finally go throught he troubleshooting process to find out
my drive is listed not functional, what is that all about?

Bought a printer server.  It is the ethernet to 1 USB port.  If you have
multiple printers, can you connect a USB hub to the usb port on the server
and service more than one printer.

power management.
there are two main considerations i can think of:
setting power management to deactivate hard disk every 15 min or so.
