I'm trying to recover data off a disk. The drive is almost completely
non-functional, but of course Windows refuses to leave it alone and so is
destroying the data while I try to recover it.
Can anyone give me some tips on services to disable etc. that will stop

When i booted my system immediately the monitor menu appears.
If i press exit button in the monitor it reappears in 0.1sec.
It exists for a long time and then disappears.
Please post me a solution.

I have a hp scanjet 3970 connected to a usb that was working fine until I
connected a Brother 5140 printer to another USB port.  Now the scanner won't
work properly (it makes some noise but nothing happens) unless the printer
usb is unplugged or disabled.  Then the scanner works ...

Energized UPS.  Turned on PC.  Dual channel notification noted in use by
bios.  No hard drives, or DVD burner noted.   Cannot find anything to boot
from.  Reset PC reboot switch, same as above.
Deenergized UPS, immediately energized UPS.  Same as above.

Hi, I have a Dell Latitude D400 laptop with 2 X USB 2.0 ports.
To accomodate more USB devices, I bought a 4 port USB 2.0 hub with an
ac adaptor.
However, it is recognized as "Generic USB Hub" in device manager

Can anyone tell me how to disable the function where if my pointer is
hovering over something for a few seconds it will "click it". Its terribly
anoying.

I have a system that sees both CD and thumb drive as formatted with RAW, and
prompts to either insert a formatted CD or format the removable drive. When I
put them in another systen they come up CDFS and FAT, respectively, as they
should. Both system running xp-pro, SP2
