I get the following error on a laptop... I know the hard disk is acting up and I am going to replace it.. But I am wondering if it has to do with the HD controller or something.. I have KNOPPIX live dvd on the laptop now and its running fine....

My file servers is using a ASUS motherborad which has a built-in RAID controller. I have installed 4 SATA hardisks and run a RAID 0+1 disk array. Few days ago, the motherborad has problem, the system is hanged during the windows start-up screen.

i work for a software compnay who needs to demo their software on a laptop...and 3gb of ram is not enough...we need 4:( we tried different types of laptps from dell, hp, etc...none of which shows the full 4gb of ram we physically have.(2x2gb dimm)

Why would Windows XP show Ultra DMA Mode 3 in advanced setting of primary IDE channel? The drive is ATA-100 and BIOS seems to be supporting ATA-66 (on a Mo/Bo it's written ATA-66 ready and in BIOS POST it says -LBA ATA 66 ).Obviously

I was given a generic USB/Firewire enclosure 3 years ago, into which I put my 40 gig white label 3.5 inch drive that I took out of my Power Mac when I dontated that Power Mac to a school. The drive worked great as a back-up to my new Power Book.
