USB device recognized but no drive letter assigned01 Aug 2006 00:59 GMT1
Hi, my Windows XP SP2 recognizes my USB thumb drive, but does not
assign a drive letter to it.  When I go to disk management, the device
shows up.  However, when I manually assign a drive letter to it, the
drive still does not show up in Windows explorer.  If I assign a

I get the following error on a laptop... I know the hard disk is acting up
and I am going to replace it..
But I am wondering if it has to do with the HD controller or something..
I have KNOPPIX live dvd on the laptop now and its running fine....

  I'm having a very odd problem.  I was playing World of Warcraft today
(feeding the addiction) and my computer hung and then rebooted.  Upon reboot,
everything was very screwed up.  I was getting weird stop codes (00BE, 000A,

Hi. I just built a new PC with a 250 GB SATA hard drive, and I'm installing

My file servers is using a ASUS motherborad which has a built-in RAID
controller.  I have installed 4 SATA hardisks and run a RAID 0+1 disk array.

i work for a software compnay who needs to demo their software on a
laptop...and 3gb of ram is not enough...we need 4:(
we tried different types of laptps from dell, hp, etc...none of which

i installed my netowrk card again after rebooting my XP Home laptop,
but it does not get recongnised by the belkin utility, when i go to
device manager, under the device status it says "this device can not
find enough free resources that it can use", so i tried disabling a few

I was given a generic USB/Firewire enclosure 3 years ago, into which I put my
40 gig white label 3.5 inch drive that I took out of my Power Mac when I

(NTFS, non-system) on my hard drive. If I cancel the check, the system (WinXP
Pro SP2) starts and runs fine. I've run several tests of my hard drive
