My desktop HD seems to have crashed. I cannot boot to it at all. My laptop HD has started to make clunking noises, and it fails after about 15-20 minutes. I've been able to get some data off the laptop by copying it to a USB Flash drive before the hard drive starts

Last night I shut down my system, this morning I turn it on, it scanned but it did not go to the the Windows boot instead I gave me this messag "press F1 to retry and F2 for setup utility." and everytime I pressed F1 it kept repeating the same message.

I have a NEC DVD+ RW and Windows XP SP2, recently I have had a problem with the drive, when I attempt to make a DVD it fails and gives an error stating that the disk can not be written to. However when I attempt to burn a CD there is never a problem.

I cannot get my CD burner to open. It used to open when the computer was turned on but now it does nothing and won't open at all..it doesn't even seem to run anymore. I tried to uninstall it and then reinstall it but that didn't work either. What else can i do??

I installed XP 32 bit with SATA driver AHCI, no problem. When I want another OS of XP 64 bit on the same computer but on another SATA drive. It won't accept during the F6 selection of SATA driver. Stating that this drivers are not compatible with XP 64 bit.

Just to help basic understanding; If you do a firmware update on say an optical drive, is it possible to reverse it back to the drive's original firmware if something goes wrong with the update.......and basically the same question concerning a BIOS
