How do I find the firewall on my computer, to disable it and install HP printer?04 Aug 2006 17:48 GMT6
I'm setting up an HP All-In-One Photosmart 3210 printer on a network in
a small office. Three PCs are able to see and use the printer just
fine. The fourth PC is not able to install it, because the installation
can't see the printer on the network. (All four computers are running

for a way to programmatically enable/disable a specific USB port (to simulate
physically disconnecting, and reconnecting the USB cable).
Any help would be appreciated,
Speaker plug main board04 Aug 2006 13:44 GMT1
I installed a new MSI diamond K8N with drivers etc.
The plugs on the main board will not have any output at all. The front panel
has though.
Is it a special setup I need to run on this board?

Printing problem04 Aug 2006 05:01 GMT1
Recently I started to have a strange printer issue.
It doesn't stop printing and sort of keeps on printing to the very bottom of
the page and then on the next page I see "a whole" in a document I wanted to
print out,so I have to use a pen and manually "fill in the blanks" which is ...
External HDD vs Reinstall XP04 Aug 2006 04:56 GMT5
Just purchased a Maxtor external HDD (100gig Personal Storage USB 2.0) .
Have a question please.
I can't foresee any situation where I would be disconnecting this drive from
the computer while windows is operating, but if I even have to reinstall XP,
Volume control fpr speakers/earphones04 Aug 2006 03:37 GMT2

values the volume control potentiometers for the speakers and the
headset earphones should be.

How to keep USB drivers from uninstalling?03 Aug 2006 21:47 GMT2
I have long known that Windows XP tends to uninstall the driver when a
USB device is removed, so that when the device is reattached, the
driver must be installed again.  I have dealt with this by keeping USB
devices always attached and turned on, but I now have a situation
UPS built in03 Aug 2006 21:36 GMT9
I have a UPS that weighs about 10 lbs.  I was thinking that most
computer shutdowns are often just power flash outages.  I am guessing
that a battery large enough to keep a computer only up for say 5 min
would not weigh that much or would cost any more than the production

Here's my problem...
All of the sudden, for no discernable reason, flash drives don't show
up in "My Computer", although I do get the sound effect for plugging
them in and removing them.  They show up in "Safely Remove Hardware",
