I am considering replacing my current DVD-rom,CD-R/W with an upgrade. Now for the stupid question. Since the installation disk will normally be in the form of a CD how can you install the new device since thare would be no device to read the CD?

I have a Gigabyte GA-8IPE100 motherboard with Intel(R) 82801EB Ultra ATA Storage Controller built in, my two SATA WD Caviar hard drives supports UDMA6 but in windows XP UDMA is auto choosen for both drives.

Hi - when I attach my microphone the recording volume is very low even when I use Control Panel/Sounds & Audio Devices. The microphone works very well in another machine. In theory I have a Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD.

I have several Firewire drives and I have my system configured to turn them off pretty quickly since I don't use them often. However, every time I delete a file on any hard drive, XP starts all the Firewire drives. This can cause a pretty long and annoying wait.
