Here are my current drive letter assignments (using Windows XP Home SP2)
C - IDE primary master hard drive, single partition
D - DVD+RW burner, secondary master
E - IDE secondary master, dock for removable drive trays, IDE hard drive

I'm going nuts here.  I seem to have hit a limit in Windows on
firewire devices but I can't find anything about it on the web.
I have found article 830987, it looked like my answer--except this
machine was SP2 from the start.  I've checked the driver, it's later

I have a USB device for which I have obtained its appropriate drivers -
.INF, .SYS and .CAT files. The driver is signed, that is ok.
I would like to PREinstall the driver on client computers so that when users
first connect their usb devices they do not get the "found new hardware"

My wired intellimouse explorer occasionally hangs up for a second or two
while the cursor moves across the screen. I think the issue is the computer
itself, as if it has to think every now and then.

In Disk Management I see that disks are assigned numbers.
Is primary master always designated as "Disk 0"?  Primary slave always
designated as "Disk 1"?  Secondary Master always as "Disk 2"?  That's the
way it is on my system, at least right now.

I have win XP Prof. + SP 2 installed on my P4 3 GHz PC, having one COM prot
and an external modem (D-link) is connected to it.
