I have a Dimension 8400 running XP SP2. I had a Dell 922 all in one
connected to it which worked flawlessly until it gave up the ghost. I
replaced it with a Dell 964 all in one but could not get it to scan properly.
Messages like unable to initialize scanner or scan utility ...

Since re-installing xp, my system boots to the bios, sometimes,
and requests my CPU speed value thinking I have a new or
updated CPU. I select one of the values and restart without any
problems for about a week then it boots again to the BIOS.

Neither my CD Rom or DVD seem to be reading the discs. If I go to my
computer a CD is shown in the CD rom. If I click on the icon the cd
cotents are shown but if I click on cd set up nothing happens. I have
tried this on several discs and no auto run either. I have checked

Recently I have reformatted an external USB2 80GB 2.5" HDD (USB
powered) using XP's disktools. One partition FAT32 (for compatibility).
Since I have done this, every time I plug the drive in any of 3 PC's,

I have USB2.0 portable drive with a 40GB harddrive
After i connect the protable drive i am able to set the drive and its
properties in the windows which popsup, in the taskbar (bottom right) but
