The EM64T is working on Intel IA-32 structure. Does it mean that the Intel 64 bit cpu is an emulation and it is not actually working on 64 bit by hardware?

Up until a few weeks ago I could use my USB Stick on this XP Home SP2 computer. Nowadays I can´t, when I plug it in a bubble pops up saying something like "Could not recognize USB device" and in the device manager it shows as "Unknown USB device" :(

I went through the Windows troubleshooter on this issue, and it didn't give me anything useful. I am running on an Asus P4SD-LA (Although for some wierd reason, Asus doesn't support it, but Hewlett-Packard does) with the onboard AC'97 malfunctioning. Windows says it's working, ...

I was trying to repair my Windows XP on my laptop with the CD when the system crashed and then windows couldn't load, a thrashing sound followed. after that, the HP page before the Windows XP logo just stayed static ie. it was just black with the HP logo. I got into set-up
