Recently my wireless network adapter has been acting up. Sometimes it won't

On a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, the USB ports were not responding to
devices. So I removed the Controllers in Device Manager so that they would

I'm having a problem recording to DVD's.  Normally I use Nero 6 for
recording.  When I use the Nero backup utility it seems to record alright
but then I get tons of errors verifying.  I tried using the Windows backup
and then burning the back up file to DVD.  That seemed OK until ...

I had to reinstall xp professional.  I had a lot of trouble reloading it.  
Finally loaded but now I have no cd rom.  The light goes on but is not listed
