I am thinking about re-installing Windows.  I have to separate harddrives.
1st one with 3 partitions and a 2nd larger one that I use for files and
pictures.  Will re-installing Windows XP on the 1st one have any effect on
the other drive?  And also how does one re-install ...

I recently had to do a complete new reinstall of XP. Now the system will not
accept the driver for my audio card (Philips PSC 703). Here's what I've tried
to do:
-Made sure on-board audio is disabled in BIOS.

I use my computer mostly without any network connection at all.  Is there a
way to boot without attempting to connect and still make connections easily

My Hitachi/GL multi purpose optical drive (GL GCC 4240N) does not read
or write CD-ROM disks.
DVD and Audio disks work OK.
Installed in fixed bay on DELL Inspiron 8100, O/S is WIN XP Home.

I have an Internal IDE hard drive attached to a USB cord to make it
external.  In an attempt to reformat this drive I read to use the
Windows Disk Management Utility and delete the partition on the drive.
While I have no concern for the data on the drive it no longer works.
