I have a laptop that is getting the SMART message on bootup declaring an immediate failure is coming up and back up the drive. I have Acronis 8.0 and would like to make an image of the drive, then replace it with a new laptop drive.

Wonder if anyone can help please. I have a 3 yr old HP computer on which the internal dvd /cd writer is playing up,they are rather slim and it does not look easy to fit another non HP writer in it's place.

I have a laptop with XP Home SP2. My sound is gone. I can't find a service for sound. There's a sound applet in the control panel, but I still can't get any sound. The only sound I hear is a little system beep occasionally.

After writing data files to disc, they become read only. It seems the Disc has become read only. How can I prevent this in future and to enable the disc for reuse.Thank you, Ron.

I have an HP Pavillion desktop in which the hard drive has crashed. The drive that came with the system is a SATA drive. I have restored my files and reloaded the OS using an IDE drive that i had lying around. it took quite a bit of time reloading all of the specialized HP drivers
