I just added an external DVD Writer to my Windows XP PRO system fully updated
by Microsoft patches.  The drive works fine and is seen by all applications
including MS-DOS prompt, but Windows Explorer does not show drive?  It has
constant drive letter L: and is the second 1394a ...

I had a bad experience recently where my PC ran very slowly, I thought at

I have reloade XP numerous times and it loads fine, looks as though
everything will be fine but as it starts to boot I get  a 2 milisecond blue

I have a few final questions before I start my project tomorrow...
I have an Intel D945GNT Motherboard.  It has a built in SATA RAID
Controller, (Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager.)

I've got a DVD-RAM drive in my notebook.  I bought blank DVD's, but I can't
burn to them.  I get a message saying that it's not writable media.  I
thought a DVD-RAM would write to DVD too?  What gives?

I have an XP Home SP2 computer here that was recently repaired from a
serious virus & spyware infestation. Somewhere in the course of repair I
lost access to the DVDRW and CDROM drives. Device Manager shows Error Code
39 on both of them. I have tried the following fixes:

I have a USB 8Gb memory stick, formatted FAT32. When I go to copy
files onto each (each is only a few MB) the drive reports fill after

the Control Panel there's a feature that says Turn Hard Disk off after a
period of time.

For a few days now I have had a problem with my dvd drive. It cannot read
certain cd-roms, cant play music cd's when it did previously and I cant burn
cd\dvd's. I have tried a cleaning disk without success and I have also tried
