I recently had a power outage at my house and I guess my surge
protector was bad because my external USB 2.0 IDE drive is TOAST and
will no longer show up in my computer (I took it out of the enclosure

About a month ago, while running CCleaner, my external 400GB Seagate
HDD showed an error indicating something like "the master file is
corrupt" or "the directory file is corrupt".  It might have been the
master boot file.  I don't remember the exact language.  I rebooted my

Today both  my drives have yellow exclamanation mark in the device manager
and its says in the properties that they cannot be found.
They both show in the bios and during bootup.I tried uninstalling them and
whilst one of them was found it did not finish installing it.

the other half's PC was crashing a couple of days ago whilst I was encoding
an .avi file to .vob so I D/L sisoftsandra lite (freeware) and run a check
of the main board on the "Hardware" tab. I was informed that the main board
was overheating, in fact it was at **97 degrees** ...

No input devices function with my Dell Dimension PC.  They function in the
BIOS, where I have tried resetting to the defaults.  I have tried to use USB
kb/m, and all combinations in between, and yet nothing works once WinXP

I installed a ex HD a few weeks ago,  because I was told it would free up
major space on my dell laptop.   The ex has 160 GB.   Transferred all picture
folders etc to the ex.         I STILL am running out of room on drive C.
It's file system NTFS.     HD file system is FAT 32

when i put a disk in my d drive it wasnt loading up. so for example i put in
windows xp installtion disk it would light up and you could hear it run the
