Hi. Need some help and don't know where to start.
I grabbed my husband's old XP laptop and am trying to use it in my
office or anywhere else in the house with a wireless adapter. There's a
cable modem in his office, about 50 feet away from my office. His laptop

I installed a new CD writer in an XP system and whilst it will read and play
a CD, I cannot get XP to recognise it to write to.
Can anyone advise what the jumper settings should be. (It is a SONY CD

I bought a USB to PS/2 converter.  I am running Windows XP SP2.  If I plug
the Keyboard (PS/2 connector) and mouse (also PS/2 connector) into the
converter and plug the conveter into a USB port, the system does not
recoginze the keyboard or mouse on boot up.  Any ideas?

I can't get the sound card to work, or even be recognized, in a Compaq
desktop of a friends. I checked the BIOS and the on-board audio was enabled.
I even put in another sound card I had hanging around in case the on-board
audio stopped working. Still, no audio device is found. ...

Hello. On our base WinXP SP2 image, USB devices (e.g. printers and
floppy-disk-drives) are been detected as New Hardware when plugged into
different USB ports (hubs?) on the motherboard. Sometimes this is

Recently, I went through a lot of trouble installing a new SATA II drive on
my computer.
BIOS changed the boot order, and I lost all the informaiton on the original
boot drive (SATA).
