I installed a new CD writer in an XP system and whilst it will read and play a CD, I cannot get XP to recognise it to write to. Can anyone advise what the jumper settings should be. (It is a SONY CD writer).

I bought a USB to PS/2 converter. I am running Windows XP SP2. If I plug the Keyboard (PS/2 connector) and mouse (also PS/2 connector) into the converter and plug the conveter into a USB port, the system does not recoginze the keyboard or mouse on boot up. Any ideas?

So I understand both the PCI Memory Hole, the 4GB limitation for physical memory within Windows itself, and the 4GB of total Virtual Memory Address available to each process, etc. etc. However, I have run across a situation that I find very odd.

Hello. On our base WinXP SP2 image, USB devices (e.g. printers and floppy-disk-drives) are been detected as New Hardware when plugged into different USB ports (hubs?) on the motherboard. Sometimes this is re-prompting for drivers, causing users to return Laptops.

I've been trying to narrow down a problem with recurrent file corruption, which keeps occurring on my system drive. I clean installed windows this last time around, and I restored data folders and files I had in my old installation from a backup file on another drive.
