I am wondering what the best way is to clean a CDROM. I know the disk is ok because I read it on another system but, I am getting CDR101 errors. I have check the cables and they seem to be ok. I do not know how to check the rpm on the drive which would also give that error.

I have a 250GB hard disk (232GB to be accurate) with a 38.16GB partition containing Windows XP and an empty partition of 194.7 GB. I would like to install Windows 2000 on the other partition but would also like to increase the Windows XP's partition to 200GB without losing my data ...

I have several Windows XP disks around my house - and a couple of Windows machines and a Mac with Parallels. I'm going to upgrade my main computer and give my oldest away to my grandson - I'll probably format that first and reinstall Windows.
