I look after an office with 16 Dell Optiplex GX280 desktop PCs.
Recently, there have been problems with fan speed control and NIC issues all
pointing to failing motherboards.
Does anyone know of a cheap(ish) reliable source for replacements,

I can't get the PCIe video card (BFG Tech GeForce 8400 GS) to be recognized.  
I've updated the mobo to the latest BIOS, disabled the onboard video chip in
the device manager, and toggled PCIe in the BIOS.  Nothing but a blank screen
and no recognition of card in device manager or ...

My Gateway XP desktop got hit by lighting and fried the motherboard and
power supply. Tech wanted $500 to fix, so I just had them copy the hard
drive to a portable so I would have the data available on my laptop.  I
found a new motherboard and ps for $200. Debating if it's worth ...

When I start XP, I get the blue screen and it scans.
It gets to 90% then says there is an error, but it then goes into
Windows and it is okay.
I tried to defrag and get much the same error.

I'm trying to install the drivers for my LG phone but Windows XP won't
let me.  Following a suggestion in an earlier post I looked for
C:\WINDOWS\setupapi.log & opened it in notepad.  It shows the
installation attempt but says "Error 0xe000022f: The third-party INF

I remember a while back there was a way to modify the registry to make
windows recognize your CD-RW as a CD-RW and not a plain CD drive. I cant
remember how, does anyone know how to do this? (Or can they suggest another

I have been experiencing an issue with both optical drives on the PC as
described below. The drives are a Sony DVD-ROM DDU1615 and an HL-DT-ST DVD+ -
RW GWA4164B. The driver for both optical drives is
C:\windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys(5.12600.5512).

Rev. 1.xx mobo and a 40 GB ST340823A Rev. 3.07 hard drive.
Can anyone comment on the compatibility of replacing the OEM hard
drive with a 250 GB WDC WD2500BB 55GUC0 Rev. 08.02D08 hard drive?
