I have had bad luck with power supplies, the first a 350W unit must have been undersized and it failed taking the HDD control board with it.

My pc does not boot from a CD even though I have gone into the BIOS setup and made the appropriate changes (CD #1, HD #2) and saved them. I start the pc with the cd in the drive, the drive then makes a whirring sound, but then the Windows XP screen appears.

My cd drive doesn't work. I tried right clicking on D: drive and clicking open. Deleting hardware from device manager. Nothing works. Does this mean I have a bad cd drive? . gizmo
