I have read back about 10 pages of posts and have not
found the answer to my problem.
I have XP and so I have Windows Messenger. I don't have a
problem with this except that I prefer MSN Messenger 6.

I am bombarded with "messenger pop-up" spam; the kind
that appears to be a window that comes in whether my
browser or email program is open or not.

Besides the sound being a bit intermittent,  I get a few seconds delay
