I see this is a major issue. I'm running XP Home. I had Messenger 4.7 until I got a message warning of dire consequences if I didn't upgrade immediately to Messenger 6.0.

I have a fairly new laptop (less than 3 months old) with Windows XP Professional on it. I never use the messenger service, but still I started receiving messages saying I have an old version of MSN Messenger on it, and it needs upgraded.
