Is there anyway to create a custom 'Status'? for Windows Messenger 5.0

I use MSN Messenger.  But when I sign out of MSN Messenger into Windows
Messenger I get this message.
You have signed in to Messenger on another computer click here to sign in
again. When I do click it it says  Signing in to communications failed

Can somebody please tell me how to block file transfer in
Messenger 6.1 running on windows xp pro, can this be done
at user level or is it system wide?  and if so how can I
achieve this?
