What are the required firewall ports for Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger?
Is it possible to use firewall to block the usage of MSN Messenger, but keep Windows Messenger working?

hi i have just purchased a new windows xp..i can log into windows explorer but when i try and log into messenger it won't sign me in,i appear off-line...many thanxs in advance ..andrew

Since a few days the icons for the contacts are all green, even those of the
off line ones.
Tried to uninstall and reinstall Messenger, no success.

I updated from Microsoft windows XP Updates and started
getting ad pages thet pop up while I am in Word, Photoshop,
Excel, or any other application.  They say "adserver" and
will be prefaced by different things like

Messenger keeps logging in on it's own repeatedly.

I recently upgraded from Windows Messenger 4.7 to 5.0.  When I used 4.7, it would automatically sign in during boot up. With Messenger 5.0, I have to manually click on sign in after the computer is booted. Is there some way to automate the sign in process in 5.0?  Thanks.

About 75% of the time when I open Outlook express, it
hangs up.  When I try to close it I can't.  About a
minute later I get the following message box:
msmsgs.exe-application error

I've checked every box to make Windows XP Messenger 4.7 automatically start and sign in and I still have to do it manually. Can you help me? Thanks

I have Windows Messenger 5.0.
How can I get it to start automatically as soon as I go on-line.  At present I seem to have to manually start Messenger each time.

I have a minor problem. I used to receive email notification alerts from MSN Messenger 6.1. When I receive them, I click on the Alert box and it jumps me right into my web broswer which is Internet Explorer to check my hotmail account. Now, I'm not sure what happen but I'm not ...

I have done everything possible to keep Mindows Messenger from starting and running on my computer short of deleting it, but it still does. I have ticked/unticked all I can find, but the fellah just keeps on ticking.
