This may be a dupe. I have WinXP PRO and have no use for messenger service. I have it disabled in the msconfig\startup. When I look in the task manager, process tab I see it still running. Can I remove it

I have XP Home and I have always kept Messenger up to date. I discover I have 4.7 and 6.1 on my PC. At Start Up (even if one is deactivated) they compete (they both show in active processes). How can I stop this?
