While reading the MS Security newsgroup, I read the following post:

Hello: I recently installed Messenger 6.2 for the kids to use. Immediately
after I noticed opening up my e-mail to a painfully long time.
I know it directly coincides with the messenger service but I dont know why.
Anybody have any ideas why its lagging like this?

Did a update today several items, one of which placed a item on my Start
Menu to the effect that I could "Set Program Access and Defaults". I would
like to remove this update, but have no idea which one placed this info.

This only began happening today.  I have been using MSN Messenger for

XP remembers my password in Messenger and anyone who turns my computer on (it is not password protected) can run my Messenger. ME wouldn't permit that. Any help on this. I've checked all the settings in Messenger that I can find.

have installed messenger, have a net passport etc, but when I try to sign into messenger it says i am not connected to the net, when i obviously am. I also have this problem with yahoo messenger. Am running xp pro, with bt broadband, am not behind any sort of firewall or on a net ...

I have noticed that I sometimes have two meesenger icon in the tray at the bottom right.  This has been consistent today since I downloaded v 6.2.  It seems the original version activates when I log on to computer and I have to sign out there and sign in the updated version.  ...
