The alerts that popup when people sign in and messages are received, how do I turn those off?

The password on my computer has somehow gotten changed.  The password on the msn server and my passport account are just fine.  I just need to change the password in Windows but I can't find out where or how to change it.

My e-mail address is unverified.  When I first setup my account I deleted the verification email by accidient, how can I get verified now?
